Glamping Pod Insurance – Why You Need A Specialist Insurance Policy
You’ve invested a lot in your glamping pod and whether you are reserving it to create some great memories with friends and family or letting it out on a commercial basis it is important to ensure you have the right insurance in place. Glamping has grown quickly to establish itself as part of UK breaks, and the insurance market has evolved to provide specialist insurance products.
Why you need a specialist insurance provider
Glamping pods are not necessarily covered by your home buildings insurance, as many insurers do not consider them to be a general outbuilding. The fact your pod may be constructed from timber is also a reason many insurers may not offer to insure it. Whether your pod is new or you’ve had it for a while and whether it is located on some land you own or rent or sited in your garden, The Tourist Trail Insurance can help you get the insurance right.
What to consider when insuring your glamping pod?
One of the first things to consider is how much your glamping pod cost to buy – this is the building sum insured and we will use it to start to work out a price for your insurance. Don’t forget to include the structure itself including any bathroom or kitchen fittings and add in the cost of any extras such as decking, a hot tub or sauna, shower or toilet that might be part of the pod or located next to it.
Next, consider the value of the contents inside your glamping pod – what do you keep inside your pod? – include items such as bedding, soft furnishings, cooking utensils, pictures and decorations.
Our policy is flexible and allows you to cover additional items such as hot tubs, BBQs, gas bottles, firepits and dining furniture, whether in use or whilst being stored.
You need to consider Public Liability insurance as well, just in case things go wrong or an accident occurs!
Do you let out your glamping pod?
If you let out your glamping pod to paying guests then it is important to be correctly insured, and your local council may insist on minimum levels of cover.
Our policy can extend to cover Public Liability, Employers Liability – if you employ anyone – and financial loss from business interruption if you have to close your premises due to fire, flood or storm.
How much does it cost to your shepherd’s hut?
The cost of your insuring your glamping pod will depend on a number of variables – how much your glamping pod cost, the value of your contents, liability covers and so on. Prices start from just £8 a month.
